Won\u2019t recall our last embrace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The steps of a path I wish to retrace, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I know I won\u2019t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because I know when all is said and done, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I won\u2019t be the same anymore,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And neither will you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our paths once crossed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now diverged, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I’m not quite sure what\u2019s in store. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can think maybe we\u2019ll meet again down the road,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that I\u2019ve already left, I\u2019ve closed that door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ll become part of a memory<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of you and me in a different time,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The memory of that one summer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where, for a split second, our stories did align. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But less a memory and more a shadow,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That memory still ours, yours and mine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memory is fickle,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A silhouette<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Against the fading light <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chasing its trail<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the haze<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until it is lost out of sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet I turn around to see<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suddenly I<\/em> am that figure <\/p>\n\n\n\n Fleeting in the dark,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Memory not the culprit, <\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s my own fault. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I know I will always be the one leaving, <\/p>\n\n\n\n Even when I am the one <\/p>\n\n\n\n Who wants this to work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Leaving is all I\u2019ve ever known, <\/p>\n\n\n\n My default, my curse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And once I\u2019m gone, I can\u2019t return, <\/p>\n\n\n\n It isn\u2019t just something you can reverse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I can rehearse <\/p>\n\n\n\n In my head, just how things will go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Like if I predict it already, somehow things will be easier, <\/p>\n\n\n\n Somehow I\u2019ll know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I tell myself, don\u2019t get too attached, <\/p>\n\n\n\n Because good things like this, <\/p>\n\n\n\n They aren\u2019t meant to last. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If they did, that would mean that I could stay,<\/p>\n\n\n\n That I could have a stable life someday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And I think I missed that class,<\/p>\n\n\n\n I think things got lost in translation<\/p>\n\n\n\n Somewhere along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And that is why I push them away <\/p>\n\n\n\n Before they have a chance to come close,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before they give me a reason to stay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Just so I can still pretend<\/p>\n\n\n\n I never even cared anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n But I did get attached this time, <\/p>\n\n\n\n Though I wasn\u2019t aware. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I really tried not to, <\/p>\n\n\n\n It was an accident, I swear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It\u2019s funny how all I want is to be in one place, And yet I know I will never stay for long.
