Few Halloween celebrations are complete without a movie marathon – and few scary movie marathons are complete without a handful of Tim Burton\u2019s films. Described as having \u201can iconic visual aesthetic\u201d by Vox<\/em>, the macabre, visually striking movies of the director are recognized worldwide for their gothic yet thought-provoking nature. But what makes these films so beloved, and what is it about them that entertains and enthralls audiences even years after they were first released?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First and foremost, Burton\u2019s name is almost synonymous with his animated movies, which have captured the attention of child and adult audiences alike. Although typically centered around the contrast between the concepts of life and death, Burton manages to pack his animated films with a variety of underlying themes, whether that be the alienation from one\u2019s community, the complexities of family dynamics, or even the curse of unrequited love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seen as gory, spooky, and even terrifying by some, they succeed in offering the audience a glimpse into some of the acclaimed director\u2019s realistic yet dark movies that expand on themes such as loneliness, death, and the very heart of the human condition. Ranging from two Alice in Wonderland <\/em>adaptations to Halloween classics such as Beetlejuice, <\/em>Burton\u2019s feature films encompass a variety of stories that provide the viewer with a compelling, psychological plotline in an aesthetically intricate setting. The movies are even further enhanced by the talented actors that have collaborated with Burton throughout his career, including Golden Globe<\/em>-winning celebrities like Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter, and Johnny Depp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the movie industry and beyond, Burton has established his movies at the very center of the gothic genre, around which his growing audience orbits. His latest film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, <\/em>has already grossed over $434 million at the box office worldwide despite only being released at the start of September. However, I advise readers to discover the world of Tim Burton through some of his older movies, too, as they provide valuable insights into the director\u2019s journey and development over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
